SHORT & LONG POSE DRAWING WORKSHOP
June 18-22, Monday-Friday, 9 AM-4 PM, $440

This workshop is offered to give the artist a thorough study of both long and short pose life drawing.  During the long pose we will focus on the most important objectives for each phase of the figure’s development, beginning with the ‘action’ and ending with the ‘modeling’ of form.  The goal is to create a well-proportioned and constructed figure with the modeling of form through the use line and value.
The afternoon sessions will be dedicated to short poses with the exception of one day, which will be dedicated to the study and drawing of the head. The short poses will test the artist's capability to put into effect the principles learned in the long pose, but in a shorter time frame.  Principles of design will be covered in the context of posing the model, and figure design and rhythms. Historical references will be given with lectures and demonstrations.
The objective of this workshop is to empower the student to draw a spatially viable figure with and without light and shadow.  We will endeavor to build a reservoir of knowledge so the artist can look for things as opposed to looking at them.  That is, to create the figure and not imitate the figure. The underlying goal is to give the artist a good foundation for his or her own creative figure work, whether it is drawing, painting or sculpture.
