The Woodstock School of Art

Classes and workshops are held year-round. The large airy studios with natural north light are unexcelled, the wooded grounds spacious, the air clean and pure. Tuition scholarships, work exchange scholarships, and studio workspace, the dedication of teachers, student body, and administrative staff all combine in an atmosphere of freedom and seriousness.

Registration

There are no entrance requirements or examinations. Students may enter the Woodstock School of Art at any time and need not have any prior art training. Classes are open to all levels of experience.

A non-refundable Matriculation Fee of $15 is required from students who have not previously enrolled in the School.

Tuition may be paid any time up to the first session of the student's enrollment. Advance registration is encouraged however. Students may not enter class unless tuition is fully paid. The Woodstock School of Art reserves the right at any time to dismiss anyone for any reason deemed sufficient by the faculty and administration. Please note that under no circumstances are pets of any kind allowed at the School.
 
Cancellations and Transfers

Tuition fees and deposits are refundable less a $100 CANCELLATION FEE if the cancellation is made 14 days or more prior to the scheduled date of the Class or Workshop. Tuition deposits are not transferrable or refundable. There are no refunds for cancellations made less than 14 days before the class starts, or for any classes the student does not attend. No exceptions can be made.

There are no make-ups for missed classes except when the student notifies the office and arranges a make-up class to be taken within the student's registration period.

Transfers from one class to another may not be made after the student has started the first class of a registration period.

There is a minimum registration of 1 class per week for 4 consecutive weeks. Inquire about weekly registration.

Most classes meet mornings from 9 AM to 12 Noon, afternoons from 1 to 4 PM or evenings, 6 to 9 PM. Tuition rates listed are for courses lasting 3 hours per day per 4 week session unless otherwise specified.

Graphic Shop

The Woodstock School of Art offers the most complete graphic shop facilities in the region. In addition to classes in etching, block printing, and lithography, workspace may be rented at nominal fees. Inquire at the office for details.
 
Workspace

Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and Graphics Workspace is available in studios which are not otherwise in use. Workspace is not necessarily exclusive or private.

Workspace is available half days from 9 AM to 12 Noon and from 1 PM to 4 PM when studios are not otherwise in use. Contact the Registrar about limited availability.

angelochclass2 Materials and Equipment

Studio easels, sculpture stands and equipment for printmaking are provided for the use of registered students and workspace artists in the studios. Students working in landscape classes provide their own outdoor easels. Materials and supplies such as paints, brushes and etching plates are not included in tuition fees. Please note that no turpentine or mineral spirits are to be used in classrooms. Citric based solvents are acceptable. A list of recommended materials for each student's class will be provided at the time of registration, or may be found here. The Woodstock School of Art will not be held responsible for any materials or artwork left on the premises.
   
Housing

The Woodstock School of Art offers accommodations for a limited number or its students in a converted barn on the premises for $200 per week. There are no refunds on housing reservations. A housing list for WSA students is available which includes furnished rooms and cottages, summer houses and apartments, motels and campgrounds. Students are advised to make reservations early. There is no public telephone on the WSA campus.

Founded in 1992, the purpose of the Woodstock School of Art Alumni Association is to support the school through projects and programs. Biennial Exhibitions, annual Newsletters and the special events are hallmarks of the WSA Alumni Association. To join, please contact the Registrar.

The Woodstock School of Art, Inc., a tax-exempt, not-for-profit educational institution chartered under the laws of the State of New York, does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color or gender in admissions, programs, or activities. The school is supported by tuition fees, fund raising events, public and private foundations, businesses, individuals, and contributions from the Friends of the Woodstock School of Art and the Alumni Association. Please ask your company or business if they participate in a Matching Gifts Program.

Gifts and Bequests during your lifetime or by your Will are a direct and forceful way of showing your interest and support for the objectives of the Woodstock School of Art. Gifts and Bequests are exempt or deductible for income, gift and estate tax purposes.

Donors who contribute long-term appreciated securities to the Woodstock School of Art get a double income tax benefit: a deduction for the full present fair market value and complete avoidance of capital gains tax on the appreciation.
