DRAPERY & THE FIGURE: A DRAWING WORKSHOP

This class will cover the expressive use of drapery as a key compositional element allowing it to be responsive to the articulation of underlying forms in the model as well as an element capable of revealing the overall rhythm and movement of the figure. The designing and modeling of folds as well as the weight of fabrics and their subsequent folds will be discussed. This is a drawing class where all levels are welcome.

Explore personal expression through
abstract painting. Students will experiment with mixing colors and creating texture through layering, with an emphasis on creating strong compositions. This course is open to all levels, and will encourage the development of individual vision.

Working from landscape or still life, students are encouraged to work with bigger brushes and simplify form. Focus is on the atmospheric effect of light on color. Building form with value and color will be emphasized. Discussions will include the relationships of color theory to representational painting.
